About range & stove repair in Tampa Bay

Why ranges fail in Florida — and how we fix them.

Ranges combine cooktop and oven failures into one appliance, which means twice as many things can go wrong. We service freestanding, slide-in, and pro-style ranges from every common Tampa Bay brand — Whirlpool, GE, Samsung, LG, Frigidaire, plus pro-style Wolf, Viking, Thermador and BlueStar.

On gas ranges, the most common calls are weak igniters, a spark module that won't stop clicking, and a sealed-burner head that won't light because it's clogged with cooking residue. On electric and induction, it's surface elements, cracked glass tops, and touch-control panels that fail after years of steam exposure.

If a burner won't light, sparks won't stop, your glass top has cracked, or the oven below has stopped working, book a diagnostic. Flat-rate written quote, one-year warranty, OEM parts on the truck.

Symptoms we fix

If your range is doing any of this, book a diagnostic.

  • Burner won't light
  • Sparks constantly
  • Cracked glass top
  • Knob problems

What's included

Every range job covers:

  • Surface-element test
  • Spark module repair
  • Glass-top replacement
  • Gas valve service

Common causes

The failures we see most on ranges.

Five to seven failures account for the vast majority of range service calls. Here's what we find on the truck.

  1. 01

Surface element / coil failure (electric)

Won't heat, intermittent heat, or visibly damaged. Coil receptacles also fail and look identical to a bad element from outside — we check both.

  2. 02

    Spark module shorted (gas)

Sparks constantly even with all knobs off — usually a wet spark module from a spill that wicked into the housing. Replace and reseal.

  3. 03

    Cracked glass cooktop

Pots dropped, jar lids exploded, thermal shock. Glass top replacement, 60–90 minutes — pricey part because the radiant elements ship attached to the glass.

  4. 04

Gas valve / safety valve weak

Burner lights but flame is weak or yellow, or oven won't sustain flame. We test inlet pressure and valve function before replacing.

  5. 05

    Knob / valve stem broken

Plastic knob shafts shear off, or the brass valve stem strips. Common on pro-style ranges. Often a knob-only fix, sometimes a full valve replacement.

  6. 06

    Induction generator failure

Induction-only failure mode — generator board can't drive the coil, error code, burner inactive. Expensive part but well documented.

Typical pricing

Brand-specific notes

What we see on each brand of range.

Each manufacturer has its own characteristic failure patterns. Here's what to expect — and what to ask your tech about — by brand.

Whirlpool / GE / Frigidaire

Freestanding 30-inch ranges dominate Tampa rentals and starter homes. Parts are abundant, repairs are usually cheap and fast.

Samsung / LG

Slide-in ranges with touch-control faces — moisture damage to the user interface is the dominant failure mode in humid kitchens.

Wolf / Viking / Thermador / BlueStar

Pro-style gas ranges — spark modules, infrared broilers, simmer-burner orifices. Brand-specific tooling and OEM parts required to keep residual warranty intact.

KitchenAid

Slide-in induction and pro-style — shared parts with Whirlpool on many components, but cosmetic and trim pieces are brand-specific.

FAQ

Range & Stove Repair questions, answered.

Call 813-295-7400 for anything else — a real dispatcher will pick up.

Can I keep using a gas range if one burner won't light?+

If the other burners work normally and there's no gas smell, yes — but get it diagnosed soon. A failed igniter often signals a weakening spark module that takes out the other burners next.

Is a cracked glass cooktop dangerous to use?+

Yes — moisture and food can reach the live electrical elements underneath. Stop using it and book a replacement. Don't try to glue or seal a cracked top.

Why does my electric range smell like burning plastic?+

Usually a coil receptacle or element terminal arcing under the cooktop. Turn the range off at the breaker and book service — this is one of the few appliance failures that can cause a fire.

Do you service pro-style ranges over 36 inches?+

Yes — 36, 48 and 60-inch Wolf, Viking, Thermador, BlueStar and Capital. We carry the brand-specific tools and follow factory procedure.
